
Sara Pickup
Sara Pickup is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and maintains a small private practice. She earned her Associate of Arts in Psychology from Joliet Junior College. She is a proud alumni of Colorado Christian University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Pickup is a member of Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society.
Pickup is formally trained in EMDR, and is a Gottman Level 2 trained therapist. She is also trained in assessing and managing suicide risk, domestic and intimate partner violence, administering danger and lethality assessments through John Hopkins University, and is a CDHS Competency Restoration Educator in the state of Colorado.
Primarily, Pickup’s experience has been working with mandated and non-mandated adults who have a dual diagnosis and struggle with substance abuse and process addictions. Pickup has experience working in various levels of care, including but not limited to detox, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings. Her clinical experience also includes schizophrenia spectrum disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. Pickup’s clinical interests include working with narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder.
Pickup’s leadership experience includes overseeing an entire internship program as the Field Program Director as well as successfully implementing wellness initiatives throughout an entire organization.
