2021-2022 Governing Council Elections


2021-2022 Election Term

Nominations for the 2021-2022 term were collected during the month of October, 2021.

CCA members are strongly encouraged to cast their ballot from November 1st to December 1st, 2021.

In the fall of 2021, the Colorado Counseling Association accepted nominations for the following roles.

  • President-Elect-Elect for the 2021-2022 Governing Council year (President of the 2023-2024 Governing Council year)
  • Secretary for the 2021-2022 Governing Council year
  • Northern Regional Chair for the 2021-2022 Governing Council year
  • Counselor Education and Supervision Subscription Liaison

CCA is led by a dedicated group of volunteer officers; including "appointed" as well as "elected" Governing Council positions. The Governing Council serves as the legislative body of CCA and carries out the powers and functions outlined in CCA's official Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.

In accordance with the CCA's bylaws, all Governing Council Nominees will adhere to the following:

1. To qualify for an elected Association Governing Council position, candidates must:

  • be an active member of the Association at the time of the election;
  • maintain Association and ACA membership throughout their term of office;
  • must be in good standing with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

2. Individuals nominated for CCA President-Elect-Elect must:

  • have served on the Association Governing Council for a minimum of one (1) year;
  • be an active current member of the Governing Council at the time of the election;
  • complete a criminal background check and verification of credentials.

3. Candidates may not run for Association President-Elect-Elect at the same time they are a candidate for another Governing Council elected position.


Position Descriptions

President-Elect Elect

Must be a current member of the CCA Governing Council to apply.

CCA Membership and ACA Membership required. 

  • Shadows President-Elect during their term in order to prepare for their leadership term.
  • Develops an annual to-do-list for their year to come in order to ensure success for their term.
  • Holds and maintains an LPC in compliance with the highest regard to ethical and legal standards.
  • Attends the ACA Annual Conference and represent the organization at the Western Region Meeting.
  • Makes good-faith efforts to attend all CCA trainings, events, and conferences (free of charge).
  • Assists in conference preparation and development.

Secretary

CCA Membership and ACA Membership required.  

With the approval of the Governing Council, this position may be maintained beyond a one year term limit. Estimated monthly time commitment: 2 hours.

The role of the secretary is to support the President and Executive Director in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Governing Council.

The Secretary:

  • Prepares agendas in consultation with the President and Executive Director.
  • Circulates agendas and any supporting papers in good time.
  • Receives agenda items from other committee members.
  • Checks that quorum is present.
  • Drafts and circulates minute meetings to all committee members.
  • Ensures that the chair signs the minutes once they have been approved.
  • Checks that council members have carried out action(s) agreed upon in meetings.
  • Circulates agendas and minutes of Governing Council Meetings.
  • Ensures up-to-date records are kept of committee membership.
  • Ensures arrangements for meetings are met (booking the room, arranging for equipment and refreshments, organizing facilities for those with special needs, etc).
  • Attends all Governing Council meetings, in person or remotely.


Regional Liaison

(Northern)

No nominee collected.

CCA Membership and ACA Membership required.  

Regional Liaison represent the needs and interests of professional counselors in their respective region through advocacy and voting rights on the Governing Council. Three regions are represented on the Governing Council: Western, Northern, and Southern.

Regional Liaison:

  • Represent the needs of professional counselors in their respective region.
  • Identify potential training and conference venues, topics, and opportunities within their respective region, liaising with the Executive Director and President as needed.
  • Attend all Governing Council meetings, in person or remotely.
  • Communicate effectively the vision and purpose of the organization.
  • Advocate for and represent the organization at external meetings and events.
  • Are aware of current issues that might affect the organization.
  • Hold and maintain an LPC in compliance with the highest regard to ethical and legal standards.
  • Understanding regional challenges, good-faith efforts are made to attend all CCA trainings, events, and conferences (free of charge).
  • Organize training and education opportunities for their respective region.
  • Compile a list of regional hospitals, community agencies and centers that can be a resource to those within their respective region.

Subscription Liaison

CCA Membership and ACA Membership required.  

With the approval of the Governing Council, this position may be maintained beyond a one year term limit. Estimated monthly time commitment: 3 hours.

Subscription Liaisons are experts in their respective field and prepare CCA members accordingly. Currently, CCA offers four subscriptions for members: Counselor Education and Supervision; Multicultural Counseling and Development; Counselors in Private Practice; and LGBT Issues in Counseling. Each liaison educates and informs members who have subscribed.

Subscription Liaisons:

  • Maintain a relevant and working knowledge base of their subscription.
  • Inform and education subscribers of current research, legislation, or clinical trends through an electronic newsletter once per month.
  • Hold annual subscription meetings at the annual CCA Springs conference.
  • Attend all Governing Council meetings, in person or remotely.
  • Communicate effectively the vision and purpose of CCA.
  • Advocate for and represent CCA at external meetings and events.
  • Are aware of current issues that might affect CCA.
  • Hold and maintain an LPC in compliance with the highest regard to ethical and legal standards.
  • Makes good-faith efforts to attend all CCA trainings, events, and conferences (free of charge).
